DALLAS CITY LACROSSE

1ST / 2ND

SPRING 2023

Spring is our primary season and is open to both new and returning players. It runs for 10 weeks and is designed to be a player's primary spring sport (but we are also flexible with conflicts at this age).

Practices:  1st/2nd trains Saturdays from 9-9:55a starting February 25th and running through April 22rd at Glencoe Park, with a short break for Dallas' St. Patrick's Day Parade and Dallas ISD Spring Break. Expect to see training that is structured, but fast-paced and fun. We teach the sport by breaking the girls into small groups and rotating them to various stations that each teach a specific skill (ground balls, catching, throwing, dodging, shooting, defense, etc).

Games:  Since 1st/2nd is an "entry point" to the sport of lacrosse, our emphasis at this age will be on fundamentals where training is the priority. That being said, we play games too!  Our 1st/2nd Grade teams will play games Sunday afternoons in April against other local programs in the Texas Girls Youth Lacrosse League (TGYLL) and end the season playing in the Lonestar Lax Challenge tournament in Frisco, TX on Saturday, April 29th.

Dues:  1st/2nd dues for the 2023 Spring Season for players living in Dallas ISD or the Lake Highlands HS feeder pattern are $275 for ~8 practices and ~6 games plus an end-of-season tournament. Players who do not live in Dallas ISD or the Lake Highlands HS feeder zone will be charged an additional $200 fee. DCL reserves the right to limit out-of-district players to 10% of total roster size.

The largest driver in our dues is our paid coaching staff. Additional costs included in dues:  player uniforms, officiating fees, field space and team equipment (goals, balls, etc.). That being said, we are committed to growing the game and do not want finances to be the limiting factor. We offer a $50 discount for each additional sibling, as well as a payment plan option at registration.

Equipment:  Mandatory equipment once practice begins includes a girl's stick, a mouthpiece and eye protection. Cleats are not required but strongly recommended. Coaches are happy to make recommendations on equipment.

Format:  1st/2nd will play 4v4 with 3'x3' goals and rubber balls on a reduced size field (60-70 yds x 35-45 yds) with 12 minute running halves. There will be no goalies at this level. We will train as a group and divide up into multiple, evenly-balanced teams and play other local programs.

Communication:  TeamSideline is our main method of communication (this is the same application through which registration occurs). Once the season starts, this app allows you to see the team roster, team schedule and has a message feature for quick updates. Please be sure to download this app to your mobile device and to RSVP your player’s availability for each practice and game. It’s critical information that allow coaches to plan accordingly.

FALL 2023

Fall is a supplemental season and is open to returning players only. It runs for a total of 5 weeks and is designed to work around other fall sports. We will also offer clinic in November for new players who wish to try lacrosse prior to registering for the spring season (date and time TBD).

Practices:  1st/2nd train Sundays from 2:05-3p starting October 1st and running though October 22nd at Glencoe Park.

Games:  We will be play in a local tournament on October 28th-29th.

Dues:  1st/2nd dues for the 2023 Fall Season is $95 for 4 practices and a tournament (~4 games). Players must be registered for Spring 2024 Season in order to play in the fall. Once a returning player is registered for the spring, they will receive an email with a link to register for the Fall season.

Equipment:  Mandatory equipment once practice begins includes a girl's stick, a mouthpiece and eye protection. Cleats are not required but strongly recommended.

Format:  1st/2nd will play 4v4 with 3'x3' goals and rubber balls on a reduced size field (60-70 yds x 35-45 yds) with 12 minute running halves. There will be no goalies at this level. We will train as a group and divide up into multiple, evenly-balanced teams for tournament play.
