Due to the short nature of our Fall season and the fact that all our Kindergarteners are new to the sport, Dallas City Lacrosse does not offer a Fall program for Kinders. For prospective new players, we will offer a clinic on September 24th to try lacrosse prior to registering for the spring season.
Spring is the primary season for lacrosse. It runs for 9 weeks and is designed to be a player's main spring sport (but we are also flexible with conflicts at this age).
Practices: Kindergarten trains Saturdays from 10:05-10:55am starting February 24th and running through April 20th at Glencoe Park. Expect to see training that is structured, but fast-paced and fun. We teach the sport by breaking the girls into small groups and rotating them to various stations that each teach a specific skill (ground balls, catching, throwing, dodging, shooting, defense, etc).
Games: Since Kindergarten is an "entry point" to the sport of lacrosse, our emphasis at this age will be on fundamentals, where training is the priority. That being said, we play games too! Our Kinder group is a "house league" so they will play games against each other during their training period on Saturday mornings at Glencoe Park in April.
Dues: Kinder dues for the 2024 Spring season are $195 for ~6 training sessions and ~3 "house" games, and program uniform (reversible jersey, team shirt, game shorts and socks). Players who do not live in Dallas ISD or the Lake Highlands HS feeder zone will be charged an additional $200 fee. DCL reserves the right to limit out-of-district players to 10% of total roster size.
The largest driver in our dues is player uniforms and our paid coaching staff. Additional costs included in dues: field space and team equipment (goals, balls, etc.). That being said, we are committed to growing the game and do not want finances to be the limiting factor. We offer a $50 Early Bird discount through Labor Day, a $50 discount for each additional sibling, as well as a payment plan option at registration. Please reach out to us directly if additional financial assistance is needed.
Equipment: Mandatory equipment once training begins includes a girl's stick, a mouthpiece and eye protection (lacrosse goggles). Cleats are not required but strongly recommended. Coaches are happy to make recommendations on equipment.
Format: Kinders will play 4v4 (no goalie) with Scoop n Shoot goals and foam balls on a reduced size field (60-70 yds x 35-45 yds), playing 8 minute running halves. We will train as a group and divide up into multiple, evenly-balanced teams and play each other for games.
Communication: TeamSideline is our main method of communication (this is the same application through which registration occurs). Once the season starts, this app allows you to see the team roster, team schedule and has a message feature for quick updates. Please be sure to download this app to your mobile device and to RSVP your player’s availability for each training/game. It’s critical information that allow coaches to plan accordingly.
Registration: Spring 2024 registration is now open, with an early-bird discount ($50) through Labor Day.
