Dallas City Lacrosse offers teams for girls in Kindergarten through 6th grade who live in Dallas ISD or in the Lake Highlands HS feeder pattern. Our primary season is the Spring, where 1st Grade players and above compete against other local programs (Kindergarten plays in-house). In addition to our Spring season, we also offer a Fall program for returning players as well as Try Lacrosse clinics for prospective new players throughout the year.
Players will always be coached by a mix of paid and volunteer coaches who know the game and how to teach it. All adult coaches are NCSI background checked.
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a rubber ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins in a tribal game played by the indigenous peoples of the Eastern Woodlands and by various other indigenous peoples of North America. Often called "The Mutt of Sports", it's easy to see elements of basketball, soccer and field hockey in women's lacrosse.
Practices are held at Glencoe Park, North Dallas HS or Woodrow Wilson HS depending on age group. Games are played at either Glencoe Park (Kinders), North Dallas HS (1st/2nd and 3rd/4th) or Woodrow Wilson HS (5th/6th Grade).
The Spring season runs from mid-to-late February though late April with a standard practice schedule as follows:
Because lacrosse is an amazing sport and we want to share it with girls in Dallas! Our program focuses on skill development with the mantra of "Positive Attitude, Maximum Effort and Have Fun!" We teach the various fundamentals of lacrosse through different "small-sided" drills and games. The emphasis in our training is on maximizing the time the girls are moving, which we feel makes for a more fun and effective learning environment.
Additionally, it should be noted that according to a study conducted by the NCAA in 2018, lacrosse is the fastest growing collegiate sport over the past 15 years. Within their respective genders, no sport has experienced greater growth than men’s or women’s lacrosse!
